1. Information we collect
We collect information in a few different ways. Some of it you provide directly; most of it is generated automatically when you browse the Site.
Information you provide
- Contact form submissions. If you email us or fill out a form, we receive the contents of your message and any identifying details you include (such as your name and email address).
- Newsletter subscriptions. If you sign up for an email list, we collect the email address you provide.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser data. IP address, user agent string, screen size, language preference, operating system, and similar technical details that your browser sends with every request.
- Usage data. Pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, scroll depth, the page that referred you, and the dates and times of your visits.
- Approximate location. Derived from your IP address — typically accurate to city or region, not to a specific address.
- Click and conversion identifiers. When you arrive from a paid ad or click a link to one of our partner services, we may collect campaign identifiers (such as utm_source, click IDs, and similar parameters) so we can measure which ads and content perform best.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our editorial content.
- To understand how readers find and use the Site and which products and services they are most interested in.
- To measure the performance of our advertising, including which ad campaigns drive readers to the Site and which links lead to a click-through on a partner offer.
- To respond to questions, fulfill requests, and provide customer service.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security risks, and technical problems.
- To comply with applicable laws and lawful requests from regulators or law enforcement.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information in the following limited situations:
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the Site — hosting, content delivery, analytics, email delivery, and customer support — receive only the information they need to provide their service, under contracts that restrict how they can use it.
- Advertising and affiliate partners. When you click a link to a service we recommend, that service may receive information about the click (including referral identifiers and your IP address) so the partner can attribute the visit to TopCustomSong. We may receive aggregate or per-click reports back, including whether a click resulted in a sign-up or purchase.
- Legal and safety. We may share information if we believe it is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TopCustomSong, our readers, or the public.
- Business transfers. If TopCustomSong is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, and measure performance.
- Strictly necessary. Required for the Site to load and function — for example, security tokens that prevent malicious requests.
- Functional. Remember small UI choices (for example, whether you've already dismissed a promotional pop-up so we don't show it again in the same session).
- Analytics. Help us understand which pages and sections of the Site are most useful.
- Advertising and measurement. Help us and our partners measure the effectiveness of ads that brought you to the Site and clicks from the Site to partner services.
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the Site may not work as intended.
5. Advertising partners and affiliate links
TopCustomSong is an independent reviews site funded primarily by affiliate commissions. When you click a link to one of the services we recommend and then sign up or make a purchase, the service may pay us a referral fee. This includes services that may be owned by or affiliated with the operators of TopCustomSong. Commissions never affect our editorial rankings, which are based on the testing rubric described on each review page; our editorial team has the final say on what is recommended.
6. Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand traffic patterns and improve the Site. These tools may collect information about your device, browser, IP address, and the pages you view. We do not use these tools to build cross-site advertising profiles about you.
7. Your choices and rights
- Email opt-out. If you've subscribed to a list, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
- Cookies. You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings.
- Do Not Track. Our Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals because there is no industry-standard interpretation of them.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC). Where required by law, we treat a verified GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to (a) know what categories of personal information we collect and how we use them, (b) request access to and deletion of that information, (c) request correction of inaccurate information, and (d) opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell personal information for money. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 16. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
9. EU/UK residents (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Our legal bases for processing are (i) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site and measuring advertising effectiveness, (ii) your consent where required for advertising and analytics cookies, (iii) the performance of any contract you enter into with us, and (iv) compliance with our legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect, including TLS encryption in transit and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Site, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Server logs are typically retained for a limited period before being aggregated or deleted. Aggregated and de-identified data may be retained for longer.
13. International data transfers
TopCustomSong is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, the information we collect about you will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer.
14. Third-party websites
Our Site links to third-party services we recommend, including JoyBox, SmileTunes, and AnyMusic. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Please review their privacy policies before providing any information to them.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where required, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
